Money exchange:
There are different ways of exchanging money, you can change at banks, hotels, money exchange places and in some avenues with authorized personnel, the most recommended ways of exchanging money is going to exchange places or banks, they don`t charge any type of comission for making the exchange. In some bussineses related with the touristic sector they generally accept american dollars.

Traveler´s checks:
Cashing traveler´s checks in Peru can often be a problem. They are accepted only by specific banks and cannot be cashed on weekends. Most banks also charge a fee to cash traveler's checks and it can be a time-consuming process. For these reasons it is generally best not to bring traveler's checks to Peru . Instead bring clean and untorn U.S. dollars in cash discreetely concealed in a money belt beneath your clothing. Its a good idea to place the bills in plastic sandwich bags to keep them dry and undamaged in your money belt. Never remove money from your money belt in plain view of strangers.


Currency:
The local currency is the Nuevo Sol, the coins that are in circulation actually are of 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, 0.50 cents of nuevo sol, One nuevo Sol, Two Nuevos Soles and Five Nuevos Soles, and we have bills of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Nuevos Soles; all the denominations have distinctive security signs that are exhibited in banks and money exchange places, so falsification can be avoided.


Banks:
There is a great bank net, very modern and safe, most banks have their principal offices in Lima and branch offices in all the cities of the country, their usually Atm (Automatic Cashiers) inside the branch offices where you can make bank operations 24 hours a day, in this terminals it is possible to obtain Soles and Dollars; and they are affiliated to the principal credit cards of the world. The banks attention schedule generally goes from 09:30 to 18:00 in Lima ; while in other cities of the country it usually interrupts at noon for lunch break.


Credit Cards:

Paying with credit cards is very frecuent; the most used credit cards are: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners. With them it is possible to pay at most Hotels, Airlines, supermarkets, restaurants and high class bussineses. Therès generally no recharge.


Tips:

Generally people has the custom of giving tips in restaurants for an amount of 5% or 10% of your total bill, to the waiters and service perssonel; or you can give them what you are usually accustomed, cab driver`s are not accustomed of receiving tips.
